Description:

Human fascination with things that fly is undeniable. It can be observed in various daily social flight-related activities from museums, air shows, blockbuster movies, fashion trends, and people simply looking and pointing at sky dwellers. The current state of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has a strong influence from, and resemblance to, the historic development of UAVs and flight. As a result, we begin by briefly introducing a history of UAVs followed by that of modular UAVs. Some mention of manned flight is necessary due to the intimate relationship between the two.
